Green Schools
School gardens provide students with a real-time look at how food is grown.
School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom, reconnect
students with the natural world and the true source of their food, and teach them
valuable gardening and agriculture concepts and skills that integrate with several subjects, such as math, science, art, health and physical education.

Green Schools
School gardens are a great way to get children to learn about nutrition. FAO encourages and supports countries to promote school gardens with educational goals to help students, school staff and families make the connection between growing food and good diets, develop life skills and increase environmental awareness.

Student Council
We also have a yearly Students Council fundraiser for a charitable organisation and are very proud to have raised significant funds for Gort Cancer Support, Hand in Hand and The Irish Red Cross in recent years.
Our students council gives our students an important voice within the school community.

Our Students Council play an important role in the life of our schools. Students from 4th, 5th and 6th class participate on the Students Council and they organise a range of fantastic events each year. In recent years, our students council have raised funds for sports equipment and school trips. Ms Moloney over-sees all of their work.

Gael Bhratach

Gael Bhratach
Is cuid an-tábhachtach den saol laethúil í an Ghaeilge i dTobair Pheadair. Cuirimid an-bhéim ar labhairt na Gaeilge agus ar mhuinín a chothú inár scoláirí ag úsáid na teanga. Cuireann ár gCoiste Gaelach an Ghaeilge chun cinn gach lá agus ullmhaíonn siad amchláir seachtainiúla i nGaeilge. Is í Ms Marren a chomhordaíonn a gcuid oibre agus táimid an-bhródúil gur chuir sí aithne ar bheirt Ghael Bhratach le blianta beaga anuas.
The Irish language is a very important part of daily life in Peterborough. We place great emphasis on speaking Irish and building confidence in our students using the language. Our Irish Committee promotes the Irish language every day and prepare weekly timetables in Irish. Ms Marren coordinates their work and we are very proud that she has introduced two Gael Bratach in recent years.

Hurling
We are proud of all our students who have represented St Thomas’ hurling and camogie club over the years and wish them continued success and enjoyment into the future.
Hurling
Everybody in Peterswell NS has enjoyed the unprecedented success achieved by the St Thomas’ Senior hurling team in recent years. Winning seven county titles and adding the crowning glory of All-Ireland success in 2013 has brought so much joy to our locality and shortened many winters for the people of Peterswell.
We are proud of all our students who have represented St Thomas’ hurling and camogie club over the years and wish them continued success and enjoyment into the future.
